Hikes
In Summer, you have access to many hiking trails. As a family, in a couple or with friends, the possibilities are wide-ranging. You can plan a hike to the summit of Rochebrune where you will be offered a panoramic 360 degree view of Mont Blanc and the Aravis and Véry ranges. You can discover the cascade de la Belle au Bois, a short walk that will captivate young children. If you’re bold, discover the Croisse Baulet, at 2236 m, one of the most popular hikes, or Mont Joly, a pleasant excursion offering a spectacular view of Val Montjoie.
From four-hour strolls to family walks lasting no more than 45 minutes to spare the legs of the youngest family members, there is a very wide-ranging choice of hiking trails.
Indeed, over 8000 km of way-marked trails allow you to explore the region of Megève and Mont-Blanc, from large lakes to summits via fabulous mountain pastures.
Horse-riding and Horse-drawn carriages
Horse-drawn carriage rides through the pretty village of Megève are a must for discovering its medieval centre, its pedestrian streets, hamlets of typical chalets, to look around its designer and luxury stores and admire the mountainous landscape in Summer.
You will also have the option of a long, half-day horse ride, or even two-day forays with overnight stays in refuges, dinners and vigils by an open fire in the mountains.
Via Ferrata
Via Ferrata is a typical hike in the region of Megève and Mont-Blanc.
The hike crosses the rock and offers a range of routes alternating natural paths, footbridges and other atypical passageways that you will cross whilst roped to a mountain guide. A superb panoramic view of the Mont-Blanc and an unforgettable experience!
Climbing and caving
A stay in the mountains means access to climbing and caving.
It is an excellent opportunity for you or your children to try your hand at these specific, emotion-filled activities.The Mountain Guides’ Office offers you various caving packages from a half-day family taster session to a one-day adventure package. The average time spent under ground ranges from 2 to 12 hours.
These excursions are very informative for the whole family and promise a spectacular atmosphere and discoveries within cavities imbued with a mixture of limestone, earth and water. Sometimes physically challenging, they will take you through a range of terrains and passages: through tunnels of varying sizes, crossing underground rivers and even abseiling. Thrills guaranteed!
In Summer climbing can be on cliffs, in the mountains, or on the artificial climbing wall at Palais des Sports (also available in Winter).
Air-based excursions
Cable car
During your Summer holidays you will undoubtedly have the opportunity to take the cable car to the famous Aiguille du Midi.
You will discover an unforgettable panoramic view of Mont-Blanc and surrounding summits, the highest of which, in France, Italy and Switzerland, reach 4,000 m.

Ball Trap
Ball trap is an original, all-weather activity that takes place in a covered space. This ancient discipline (once known as “clay pigeon shooting”) tests your skill.
The aim is to shoot down clay disks that are projected into the air. This recreational activity can be enjoyed as a family, with friends or alone.
Entertainment
Lake, river and mountain fishing
Relaxing by angling in lakes or mountain rivers is a pleasure appreciated by many. Megève and its surroundings are home to many rivers where you can indulge in your fishing talent in this idyllic and restful setting: le Foron de Megève, le Planay, le Nant Cordie, le Glapet, le Rau de Cassioz.
Fishing permits for adults and children can be obtained from the Tourist Office in Megève.
Show-jumping
Megève International Show Jumping has become one of the region’s unmissable events in the Summer season. Every year, this prestigious event brings together 500 horses and 350 show-jumpers from twenty different countries.

A sledge run (4-season sledging) provides thrills for the whole family. Experience a six-minute descent at 36 km/h along 715 linear metres, with 13 bends… an unforgettable experience for young and old! Whether alone or in a twosome, day or night (from nightfall the sledge run is enhanced with light and music for an unforgettable experience), this activity will give you unbelievable sensations along an outstanding route (successive raised bends, tunnels, drops and varied descent speeds).Children can have a go from the age of 3.
